TFCompanion
is developed using Java technology, this enables it to run on any Operating
System that has Java port - Java Virtual Machine(JVM/JRE). TFCompanion
requires JRE 1.4.2 or higher. Linux and Unix users are advised to check
that appropriate version of JRE is installed on target system before installing
TFCompanion. Check a list of available JRE. If you
have JRE installed on your OS, but not sure about the version use java
-version command (of course Java executable should be on your PATH).
Note
to Windows users. Windows installer includes the latest Java Runtime
(currently JRE 1.6.0_06). If the target computer does not have appropriate
JRE - it will automatically installed. TFCompanion supports all Win32
systems: WindowsNT/2000/XP/Vista. If you need a 64-bit package please

Important!
If you are downloading evaluation copy of the software please send
email to evaluation@semiconsoft.com to request an evaluation key.
Installers
are available for Windows,Lunix and UNIX, all other OS that support Java.
TFCompanion installer will guide you through the installation process,
you will be prompted to select location, JRE and shortcut for the application.
If you have questions regarding installation or running TFCompanion please

Note:
TFCompanion
uses Lucida Sans Unicode fonts to display some of the symbols.
If this font is not available on your system - please download following
file "Lucida Sans Unicode font"
and place it in the system directory (on WindowsNT or Windows 2000 fonts
are in the following directory: /winnt/fonts )

Update
to Latest ver. 3.7 (build 08.30.2010) .
This is a cumulative update for version 3.0. Previous versions of
TFCompanion cannot be updated - the full installation is required
Please
Note that you need to have a valid maintenance subscription in order to
install and use this update. One year maintenance subscription is automatically
included with the purchase of TFCompanion. You can purchase
annual subscription online. If your subscription is not valid for
current build - TFCompanion will work in evaluation mode.
To update
version 3.0, please use TFUpdater utility: TFUpdater. This
utility is included with the TFCompanion installer since June 2006 and
all updates can be done directly from TFCompanion (Help/Check Updates).
If
you have an earlied release of TFCompanion you may need to download and
install TFUpdater utility in the same directory as TFCompanion-see download
below in New Installation section of this page). TFUpdater will download
update from the web and install it. You can also manually download file
update.zip (8.6MB) and place it in the installation directory of TFCompanion
on your computer. You can use TFUpdater to install this update.

installer should be recognized by Stuffit Expander and should automatically
be expanded after downloading. If it is not expanded, you can expand
it manually using StuffIt
Expander 6.0 or later.
- If you have
any problems launching the installer once it has been expanded, make
sure that the compressed installer was expanded using Stuffit Expander.

Materials
Library:
Basic materials library with most frequently used materials is included
in the distribution. Full materials database can be downloaded after installation
of TFCompanion. This database include all the materials in the basic database,
plus many other materials (resists, polymers, metals, ternary compounds,
etc.). After download of the database you can:
- Unzip downloaded file (materials_db.zip) in the /db directory of TFCompanion
installation on your computer Note. In
this case your current materials database will be otherwritten - please
backup it
- Unzip it in the other directory and import selected materials in you
current materials database using Library Manager utility (Tools/Library
Manager from the main menu)

Hardware Key Installation:
Sentinel System Driver is included in the Windows installer and is installed
if needed. If you cancel the installation -"SentinelSystemDriver.exe"
file is location in TFCompanion installation directory, you double click
it for installation. If you cannot fine the driver, use the following
link to download it: SentinelDriver
.
You can also download the latest driver directly from the SafeNet, Inc.
(hardware dongle vendor) at http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp
If you are using TFCompanion with Hardware key (dongle) - on Linux, Unix
or MacOS yoyu may need to:
1. Install the system driver for your OS. You can download the latest
driver from the SafeNet, Inc. (hardware dongle vendor) at http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp
NOTE. You need to install only system driver (other options e.g.
server, monitoring tool are not required). Hardware dongle has to be disconnected
during system driver installation.
2. Download communication library file and place it in the /library directory
of TFCompanion installation (please unzip downloaded file)
Lunix library: linux_library.zip
MacOS library: mac_library.zip
3. Initialize the key the first time you use it. The dongle has to be
initialized on the computer that was used to register the software. Use
Help/Activate_ Hdw_ key option from the main menu. After initialization
dongle can be used on any other computer where TFCompanion is installed.
